I derive some of my inspiration from architectural details of classic A&C homes and buildings and some from the furniture, graphic arts and sense of honesty in design of the times. Whether you choose a classic Craftsman style frame or something custom, I guarantee you will be satisfied with my efforts and finished product.
My pictures frames are a true custom frame. I start with wood in the rough, mill it and make the frame to your specifications. I hand pick the material for your frame to try to give you the nicest frame possible. The frames are almost always made from the same piece of wood to ensure grain match on the entire frame. The picture frames have full mortise and tenon joinery with any number of traditional finishes depending on what you might require.
Standard woods are quarter-sawn White or Red Oak; quarter-sawn or flat-sawn Sapele and Meranti. Most other woods are available for the same price but are dependant on the current market price.
Frames are finished with an eco-friendly water-bourne alkyd varnish or an oil-based varnish. Thin coats are applied to give a nice, natural feel and look to the piece. The standard colors are Dark Mission Brown (shown in Custom Frames); Vintage Maple (shown in Style E, golden tone); or Charcoal (shown in Style E, dark). Most of the other woods look great natural, and I can do other colors for you if you prefer. On request, I’ll send a sample.
Pegs and bars that are inlaid are included in the particular style’s price. If any extra pegs or bars are requested, they are an additional $4.00 each. In most cases glass will not be included in the price or supplied.
Shipping and handling are dependent on destination and shipping class.
